How to Avoid Ice Build-Up on Interlock Steps and Walkways

Ice on walkways is a major slip hazard — especially on textured stone or interlock. Prevent build-up by:

  • Having snow cleared early, before compaction.

  • Using polymeric sand-sealed joints to limit water entry.

  • Applying non-corrosive de-icer or salt sparingly.

  • Adding traction grit near entrances.

From East York to Leaside to North Toronto, we keep interlock surfaces clear, safe, and looking their best all winter long.
